In Amazon Web Services, a resource is an entity that you can work with, such as an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance, an AWS CloudFormation stack, an Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket, and so on. If you oversee more than one of these resources, you might find it useful to manage them as a group rather than move from one AWS service to another for each task. Another benefit of these groups, is to allow you to export the information into a csv file for further analysis.

From the dashboard, click on Create a Group (top right hand corner), give the group a name (eg EC2 instances) and specify at least one tag (eg Name), optionally select the regions and resource types to search for. In the screenshot below we are looking for all EC2 resources (running, stopped or recently terminated) in the EU (Ireland) region. Clicking on preview, will show the results and clicking on the download icon (highlighted in yellow) will export either all columns or only the visible columns into a csv file.
